The Human Dynamics and Controls Lab (HDCL) is interested in applying dynamic systems modelling, control theory, and movement analysis to explore issues related to musculoskeletal biomechanics and rehabilitation engineering. The focus of the HDCL is to investigate posture and movement control with specific interests in:
- Developing assistive devices and measurement tools to improve our understanding about mechanisms (and interventions affecting mechanisms) of balance and gait.
- Applying these devices and tools to select populations, with special interest in slipping, tripping and falling, and asymmetric gait.
The HDCL is under the direction of Professor Elizabeth Hsiao-Wecksler in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
